The detailed steps:

Step 1: Connect iPhone 4/iPad/iPod to PC. Use iTunes 10.1.1 to restore iDevice to the official iOS 4.2.1 firmware - To do this:

Hold down the "Shift" key and click restore, select the " iPhone3, 1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw".

Note: If encounter 1013 error, open your Hosts file, then add # before "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com", that is "#74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com".

After restore the firmware, the system will automatically restart and then connect to the iTunes to activate the device. Then begin to jailbreak.
